Course

The GFNY Punta del Este course is demanding and lives up to its name. From the city’s coastal setting to the inland cattle ranches, passing iconic architecture and unforgettable Atlantic scenery, this race challenges both body and character.

The race starts at the entrance to Punta del Este, right by the ocean, at Parador Pedro Figari (Parada 12, Playa Mansa). A 4 km controlled start will lead the peloton to Parada 31 of Playa Mansa, from where riders will head towards Punta Ballena to tackle the first climb on its East side.

Both distances will continue together along the peaceful and scenic Route 12. Upon reaching Route 9, riders will turn left toward Pan de Azúcar.

Medium distance riders will make a U-turn at the roundabout located at kilometer 38 of the race on Route 9, then will return along the same route back to the finish line in Punta del Este.

Long distance riders will continue towards Pan de Azúcar along the rolling Route 9 for approximately 20 km, facing climbs ranging from 300 meters to 1 km in length, with gradients reaching up to 8%.

In Pan de Azúcar, the peloton will turn south onto Route 37, beginning the return towards the ocean along a fast section that combines speed with wide rural landscapes.

Upon reaching the picturesque seaside promenade of Piriápolis, riders will turn right and follow 13 spectacular kilometers along the oceanfront to Balneario Solís.

In Balneario Solís, riders will turn right onto Route Interbalnearia to summit Punta Ballena for a second time—this time via its West side—before heading back to the finish line in Punta del Este.

Throughout the entire course, traffic is regulated by Highway Police and Traffic Officers from the Maldonado Department.

The long course offers substantial challenges for riders seeking to test and push their limits. The medium distance provides a recreational option, ideal for novice cyclists or those preferring a less competitive experience.

Long & Medium Course

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the 50 miles medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
