The new GFNY Punta del Este course combines the right level of difficulty with even more spectacular views than before – if that’s even possible! From downtown to the beach, to sprawling cattle ranches and past landmark architecture, this race will challenge and amaze you.

The race starts right at Punta del Este's doorstep, in the heart of Playa Mansa. It goes east, once around the peninsula through its beautifully contouring coastway, then turns west, leaving town along endless wild beaches, pine forests, luxury homes, and natural lakes, up to the first significant climb: the iconic Punta Ballena.

Both distances continue together onto the peaceful yet awesome Route 12, reaching Route 9, where the courses split. Medium-distance riders turn back and retrace the same course. Long-distance riders continue west to Pan de Azúcar on a 20 km undulating stretch of Route 9, featuring climbs from 300 m to 1 km long, with a maximum gradient of 8%.

The course then turns south, towards the ocean, reaching Piriápolis’ charming coastway. After a spectacular 7 km ride along the ocean, it heads back to the finish line on the panoramic Interbalnearia Route. The whole course has police-moderated traffic.

If you want to test your ability or are looking to push your limits, the long course offers just enough challenge, while the recreational medium route is specifically designed for beginners.

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.
